RECRUITMENT

WHAT IS FORMAL RECRUITMENT?

Formal Recruitment is a week period in which each of our seven chapters recruit potential new members, looking to find their home away from home. This typically takes place a week or two into the Fall Quarter, in which we open up registration for those interested in going through recruitment during the Summer. Given that you maximize your options during the recruitment process, any potential new member will be guaranteed a bid from a chapter.

HOW DOES FORMAL RECRUITMENT WORK?

Formal Recruitment takes place over the course of a few days. Each day is themed, and you will be able to visit chapters and get to know more about their philanthropies, financial obligations, sisters, and more! By the end of the recruitment process, PNMs who choose to accept bids given to them will be welcomed to their new homes away from home.

I MISSED FORMAL RECRUITMENT, HOW ELSE CAN I JOIN A SORORITY?

Don’t worry! There is another way to become apart of the Panhellenic community, which is known as COB (CONTINUOUS OPEN BIDDING). COB is optional for chapters, and typically occurs right after the Formal Recruitment period, or in the first few weeks of the Spring and Winter quarters. Please note that, unlike Formal Recruitment, COB does not guarantee you get a bid from a chapter, nor will it be guaranteed a chapter will host COB.

WHAT IS COB?

Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is an informal process of intaking potential new members outside of the Formal Recruitment period by any willing chapter. Not every chapter is eligible to COB, nor is it guaranteed that an eligible chapter will actually offer COB. Stay updated with the Panhellenic Instagram to learn more about whether or not a chapter will offer COB in the upcoming months.

What’s the best fit for me?

  • Formal.

    Guarantees every chapter will recruit.

Go through the process with hundreds of other potential new members.

    Occurs once a year.

  • Much more casual + less formal.

    Does not guarantee a bid.

Does not guarantee a chapter will recruit.

    Occurs more than once.
